Remember Dorothy, the intrepid traveler from the classic Wizard of Oz? She said it best: “If I ever go looking for my heart’s desire again, I won’t look any further than my own back yard.”
It’s a universal truth that puppies, kittens, and kids the world over are drawn to shiny objects – and we were no different. In modern adult slang this attraction is called “bling,” but for devout Christians, tiny sliver charms are called milagros or tamata.
As travelers we all know that photos can launch a thousand dreams, catapult us to faraway places, and awaken our human compassion. Travel photos are the eyes that let us connect across this wide, wonderful world.

We fly to Cyprus today, and consequently, this is our final post from Greece. We’ve been in Greece for 6 weeks, and while this isn’t a long time, it has been our home. And usually we reminisce a bit about the place we’ve been.
It’s already Christmas Night here in Athens and many of you are just now rolling out of bed to see what Santa left under the tree. We’ve had a wonderful day, filled with good food, favorite music, twinkling lights, and great conversations. Just like home.
It’s Christmas Eve, and we’re starting to celebrate here in Athens. And if you’re reading this you’re family, old friends, or new friends who are taking time out to see what we’re up to. And for that we thank you.
