It’s been a journey that has taken us from minimizing our possessions and streamlining our digital footprint, to downsizing our abode and becoming financially independent. We’ve done it all … and we’re thrilled with where we’ve landed.
We began 2019 dreaming. We’d just returned from another European escapade, and big plans were on the horizon.

Talavera … the word just rolls off the tongue, promising something exotic. In Puebla, Mexico, this elegant, yet earthy, ceramic tile blankets the walls, flows over fountains, and carpets the floors. Tiled church domes shimmer in the sun. From murals and mottos, to angels and addresses, no surface is left unadorned.
It was early Sunday morning and the only activity at the sleepy crossroads was the Marathon Station: bleary-eyed customers filling their tanks with gasoline and their tummies with caffeine and sugary donuts.
You should’ve heard the conversation. We were strolling through the fantastic open-air City Market in lovely Ljubljana, admiring the rows of fresh produce, local honey, and the straight-from-the greenhouse mums.
I’ve always been a four-seasons-kinda girl. I’m not talking about hotels or restaurants, but rather the changing of the seasons. And I love each and every one of them for entirely different reasons. So when we landed in lovely Ljubljana, my heart soared. It was Fall.
