Awesome Auckland

The City of Sails has captured our hearts. From its bustling harbor filled with ferries to the Jetson-esque Sky Tower surrounded by charming neighborhoods.

City planners seem to have worked hard on making Auckland a world-class city, and it shows. It has an uber-efficient public transport system paired with user-friendly, clean, attractive cityscapes.

And it hasn’t forgotten its heritage.

We’re always on the lookout for cities with that great combination of livability and practicality. Auckland is a modern, high tech city with a sense of history and a clear vision of the future. Places that exhibit all of these qualities are rare, but Auckland excels on all counts.

Our original plan was to spend a week in Auckland, but due to circumstances beyond our control, we aren’t able to do that now.

So Auckland has left us wanting more … and if there was ever a place on this entire trip where we’d like to spend more time, Auckland is it!

Happy Trails,
James and Terri

    1. Thanks for the comment Vinneve and for dropping by the blog. We enjoyed our time in NZ, and would love to return. We didn’t spend as much time there as we wanted on our first visit. But, in our defense, I had contracted dengue fever in SE Asia somewhere, and when it finally hit me we were in Wellington. I spent two weeks in our hotel room barely able to function, let alone venture outside. So, next trip will certainly be more fun. ~James
