  1. What a wonderful picture! 30+ years ago, I was an exchange student living in a town near here and commuting daily through the Liege train station to go to school. It was dim and dreary and completely utiliitarian. A few years ago I returned to visit with my host family and saw — THIS!! What a beautiful icon for a city that has really spruced up in the intervening decades! Thanks for posting this memory-jerker!

    • Thanks for the comment and for dropping by the blog Margaret. National rail companies are finally realizing that travelers have alternatives, so they’ve been forced to clean up their act. They’ve also realized that rail travelers have money to spend and are a good source of income for the station. And all rail travelers in Europe have benefited. ~James
