As you may remember, Jo over at Restlessjo invited us to enter some of our photographs in Capture the Colour 2013. Thanks to you we’ve knocked out BLUE, GREEN and RED.
Yesterday’s choice produced a dead heat in the RED category, but in the end the Heliconia pulled away and took the lead to win. (If you’re playing catch-up, just check it out here.)
Now we’re ready for WHITE – a tricky choice. But we love a challenge, so here goes. Please let us know in the Comments which photo you think we should submit.

1. The Whitewashed Windmills of Oia, Santorini
In the dictionary, next to the word “photogenic” should be a photo of one of Santorini’s whitewashed buildings. Cathedrals, houses, and windmills are all painted with stark, white paint to help reflect the harsh summer sun. Add a few splashes of color accents and a crystal blue sky above, and you have the formula for gorgeous, fool-proof photos.

2. Buddhist Wedding
When we arrived at the temple in Colombo, Sri Lanka, we could tell that a celebration was taking place. Blaring music, people chatting, and kids scurrying about wearing special-occasion clothes. A Buddhist wedding. The time-honored Sri Lankan Poruwa ceremony had already taken place. Now it was time for the newlyweds to stroll to their reception – photos would be taken … and the temple elephant would get a bath!

3. Deeply Rooted
Ta Prohm, a temple complex of Angkor Wat in Cambodia, is one of the most photographed sights in Southeast Asia. It’s a photographer’s dreamworld of 12th Century Buddhist architecture being slowly buried by the white, skeletal roots of centuries-old kapok trees, strangler figs, and giant creepers. The ruins evoke the eerie feeling of a post-apocalyptic world where nature is the clear victor.

Has to be the windmill (because of the sharp focus and vivid contrast).
I really like the Buddhist Wedding also, but the focus and contrast looks a little soft, which detracts from the impact of the white.

I always go with weddings. Love how the bridal party and background fit the white theme. But all three choices are magnificent!

This was especially tough as I long to go to SE Asia, but Santorini evokes images of white against an azure sky. It is #1 for me.

Oh, this is tough! I would not have thought white would be so hard to choose because it’s not really a colour that jumps out of photos at me, unless they’re winter wonderlands!! I love the Buddhist wedding, but Ta Prohm is an amazing 2nd choice.
