Our recent trip to the Baltic states wasn’t all about Medieval Villages and beautiful Art Nouveau architecture. With our keen eye for contemporary culture, we couldn’t help but notice the Bad Piggies all over the place
Finnish game company Rovio, which is based in Helsinki, developed the wildly popular and seriously addictive game Angry Birds. And by pure chance, we were there on THE DAY that Bad Piggies, the sequel to Angry Birds, was released.
Needless to say, the carnival atmosphere provided an entertaining break from the normal tourist routine. Helsinki was awash in Angry Birds and Bad Piggies. We saw Angry Bird hats, T shirts, posters, balloons, candy, chips, and even canned soda.
Think the game is just a passing fad? Think again. With a combined ONE billion downloads, and a movie in the works, this franchise is going nowhere but up.
A game reviewer on Yahoo.com summed it up best,
“If you can’t enjoy watching a pig drive a badly-constructed car off a cliff and onto a pile of dynamite, you probably don’t have a soul.”
For a marketer’s viewpoint, here’s a funny link on the popularity and addictiveness of Angry Birds.
